  • Do you want a summer wedding or a winter wedding?
  • Which type of venue do you consider appropriate?
  • How many security / police officers are needed?
  • What type of catering will you include?
  • Which type of drinks and how much quantity do you need?
  • What will be the duty of each relative in your wedding?
  • How many invitations are needed?
  • What transport you are going to choose, and for whom is included?
  • Which church is going to take place?

  • Wedding rings purchasing.

There are much more points which one should consider according to his need. We made our utmost to list at least the necessary ones. We hope this will help you and we would like to congratulate for your special day.

Part 2: Expanding you planning and including more points which you come along.

Before expanding our previous points, keep in mind that this will be your day as a couple. You may hear from parents or relatives suggestions, but as a couple you should have your final say.

  • How many people will be invited approximately?

As a couple you must decide where you will cut the line, and if you will be inviting maybe your closest friends, relatives and close colleagues only or increasing the limit further. Remember for each invitation most probably you will be inviting them with a guest therefore you already need to count another person per invite. If you will be also inviting the whole family, there will be also included children which increase the number of people invited.

You may ask, why is important to have an approximate of the amount of people invited?

The reason is simple, it is the first thing you get asked by wedding planners since the venue, catering and everything must fit together to hold the amount of people invited plus the guests. The more people invited, the larger the venue needs to be. Not every venue has a large capacity due to health and safety.

Wedding exhibition – Consider visiting a wedding exhibition, where you may find various selection to choose from and possible offers which you can take advantage from.

  • Do you want a summer wedding or a winter wedding?

One should decide whether they wish to have a summer or a winter wedding. Sometimes due to work reasons they are limited to when their wedding takes place, for example teachers most probably would be in summer due to holidays. If you have the options think carefully with your partner.

You may ask why is it important?

It is important since, some venues may not cater all year round, and also the type of clothing that should be used. Moreover, if it is in winter, you should consider also having an indoor part in the venue chosen, so if it rains one can go inside. Usually a summer wedding, most couples prefer an outdoor wedding reception but you still have the choice to choose.

  • Which type of venue do you consider appropriate?

You, as a couple should decide whether you prefer an indoor or outdoor wedding reception. Both of them have their pros and cons, therefore think carefully.

You may ask what is the difference?

The venue has many considerations to look at as stated in previous points. Another factor is the budget you have available for the wedding. Some venues may be costly mostly in peak seasons. Think where you wish to have your wedding, but keep in mind other factors such as capacity. Try not to choose a very small venue if you are inviting a lot of people since there wouldn’t be enough space for everyone. If you are not inviting a lot of people try not to choose a very large venue since it would be seen as half empty. Therefore, try to keep a balance between the amount of people and the capacity of the venue.

  • How many security / police officers are needed?

Yes, you may never think about it, but every party or event where there are a large group of people requires an amount of security or police officers according to the venue and amount of people invited.

But why are they needed? Are they an extra cost only?

Remember, some guests my get drunk, or you may have uninvited guests therefore when thinking about it, security is needed. They are professionally trained, so that if an incident such as a fight incur, they know how to handle the situation. Another issue which may arise is that some guest get drunk and start damaging the venue, which would end up increasing in your final bill as cost of damages. Therefore one must not see them as an extra cost only, but keeping mind at rest, that there are people taking care of security.

  • What type of catering will you include?

First of all you have to think about your budget. Usually catering is offered at a fixed price per person. In order to try not having any shortages or extra, one should try to estimate the number of persons including guests. Remember, extra items still need to be paid. There are various catering which you could set up in a wedding reception. Some may choose the basic package, but today you may include extra menu ideas. Some ideas are Asian food, Western, Indian, Food stall, Entrée.  The best thing to do is going to event such as testing which are held from time to time, to choose what you wish to include. Another idea which is normally chosen in summer weddings is having a bbq section and sweets section.

  • Which type of drinks and how much quantity do you need?

You have the option to include only some branded alcohol beverage according to your budget. Some suppliers offer discounts on certain quantity or amount. Others offer returns on alcoholic beverages not used and not put in ice to cool them. Even if it is closed if, an item is placed in ice usually is not accepted as a return. Discuss carefully and compare prices, since there are plenty of suppliers to choose from, which offer different terms.

  • What will be the duty of each relative in your wedding?

This may be one of the most difficult choices to make. Choosing which family member who will take each particular role may be seen difficult since you feel that duties are balanced from each side of the couple. Such duties may include who will be reading during the mass, who will be going up with the rings also known as ring bearer,  roles of bride’s parents, roles of groom’s parents, maid of honour, bridesmaid, flower girl, best man, witness and groomsmen. Keeping a balance of roles is important so that no one from each side gets hurt of not taking part or that the other side of the family had more duties available. It is important to request them for the duty beforehand so that if they don’t wish to do a particular role you can rotate duties.

  • How many invitations are needed?

Quantities of invitations usually are required according to how many people are invited primarily. Remember guests are included with the same invitation of the invited person. Usually invitations are ordered and may include a short note. The names of guests usually are hand written, and then usually invitations are given by hand since it is more polite unless the person invited is from abroad.

  • What transport you are going to choose, and for whom is included?

Transport usually include the wedding care for the couple and a car for the bride’s parents with  direct family members and also another car for grooms parents with direct family members. This is up to the couple but sometimes they may include other persons for transport such as grandparents. Of course the more cars the more the expense, therefore according to the budget available the couple may choose. There are various types of wedding cars to choose from in the market, according to you likeness.

  • Which church is going to take place?

Choosing the church may be sometimes of a conflict. Parents may want that their hometown parish church to be used as the choice, but if the couple is not from the same place there might be a conflict to choose. Also one must take into consideration the place of the venue since it may be too far away. Usually, couples try to keep the venue close to the church. Also some churches may have only some time allotments for weddings, therefore the option may be limited to choose from.

  • What is the style of clothing will you choose for your siblings and yourselves?

Clothing is usually chosen by the couple for those family members or friends who have duties such as witness and other roles. Also of course bride must choose her wedding dress and the couple choose the groom clothing. Most of the time the grooms clothing is also matched with the clothing for the other duties. This is to keep with the same colour or maybe style. The wedding dress is usually purchased and made with adjustments according to the requirements and specifications of the bride. While the grooms clothing and of the family members having duties are rented for the event. Of course trials of the clothing must be made beforehand in order to choose sizes and make any necessary adjustments.

  • Wedding rings purchasing

Wedding ring purchasing is one of the duties which may get the couple more into excitement for their day. Various jewellery shops should be considered in order to see different styles before deciding which wedding ring to choose. There are various styles to chose from such as thickness, plain or having some design, the type of gold and the carat, engraved names or date of wedding or not and other choices. One must remember trying the size and that it is not too big or to small since if it is too big the ring may fall from the hand and get lost and if too small it might be difficult to wear it or removing it if the finger grows.

  • Wedding gifts and notes

The last thing usually is a choice for a small gift to the invited guests and includes a small note as a thank you for being part of their day. Lately there was an increase in couples choosing that instead of a small gift, they make a donation to NGO’s and a small note give. It is up to the couple to decide what they wish.
